GETTING STARTED WITH HOME CARE SERVICES

INSURANCE QUESTIONS & CONCERNS

What Services Does Home Concept Services Provide?

H.C.S provide a range of services. Such as: Personal Care, Senior Care, New Mother Care, Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Support, Physical Disability Support, Companionship, Medication Reminders, Light Housekeeping, Bathing assistance, Running Errands and much more.

How Do I Start Home Care Services With Home Concept Services?

Contact your nearest home care office or call 215.331.1643 with any home care questions. We will have our staff come to your home and conduct a free, no obligation home care assessment. We will then, at your direction, identify caregivers who have the skills, personality and availability to assist you. You will then be able to meet the caregiver, and if you approve, they will begin working for you.

How Quickly Can Home Care Services Start?

Generally services can be provided within a 48-hour period and often the same day.

Can I Change the Home Care Schedule If I Have Appointments to Keep?

Schedule changes are easily accomplished with as little as one week notice. Our philosophy is to make the schedule work for the family, not the agency. You come first. Your needs, your requests, your schedule. We will do everything possible to make sure the schedule you want is the schedule you get.

Will H.C.S Send Someone To Cook And Clean Or Help Around The House?

Yes, we do provide personal home care assistance. These services include help:

  • Dressing
  • Bathing
  • Light meal preparation
  • Cleaning
  • Medication reminders
  • Assistance with some of their daily living activities

Do You Provide Caregivers For Someone In An Assisted Living Facility?

Yes, we do. We first arrange a meeting with the family to conduct a thorough assessment and develop a plan of care. This is not only to fully understand what activities or senior care services are needed, but also to get a sense of what kind of personality might best suit him or her. After this is completed, we will match the person with a caregiver. If at any time you would like to change your caregiver, this can easily be arranged.

What Should I Watch For That Might Indicate That Someone Needs Personal Home Care Assistance?

Many people remain very independent as they age, even through injury and illness. But if you think someone could benefit from personal home care or senior care services, here are some things to look for:

  • Is the house tidy?
  • Are there adequate groceries (not just frozen dinners)?
  • Have you noticed any weight loss?
  • Has personal hygiene declined?
  • Does the person seem lonely or withdrawn?
  • Are there any concerns with memory?

Will My Insurance Cover Home Health Services?

Home Care is covered 100% by Medicare, and we accept most forms of insurance. Part of the admission process includes verification of insurance. We can help answer your financial and insurance questions.

Does Medicare Pay For In-Home Senior Care Services When They Are Clearly Needed?

If your doctor has prescribed clinical help that would be administered by a registered nurse, physical therapist or occupational therapist, Medicare will pay. Also, while under the care of an in-home clinician, a personal care attendant can be assigned under Medicare coverage for bathing and certain other types of personal care.

Medicare will not pay if you need help with daily activities such as non-prescribed personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, housekeeping and other typical senior care services. Insurance plans that cover these services are privately purchased long-term care insurance, and workers’ compensation insurance, in some instances.

Where Do We Get Information On Personal Home Care Assistance For Veterans And Their Spouses?

This is a great question because veteran’s benefits are severely underused. Contact your local VA to learn more about the “Aid and Attendance” program that covers in-home senior care services. There are also several non-profits that work with veterans to process their claims. VA benefits are not automatically given; they must be applied for, and recipients must meet certain requirements. Veterans with spouses could receive over $23,000 annually toward personal home care assistance, assisted living or nursing home care. Spouses of deceased veterans may be eligible for over $12,000 annually.

Do You Accept Medicaid Wivers

Yes we do! In fact, there are several different programs available to help senior citizens be able to pay for many different health services, including home health care.

Do I pay the caregiver directly, or do I tip the caregiver?

Never pay your caregiver directly. All payments will go through Home Concept Sevices. If your caregiver ever tells you to pay him/her directly, please contact us immediately as this is not the proper channel for payment.

On the subject of tipping, we have a “no tip or gifts policy” please contact our office for more details.
